• Perform optometric/ophthalmic screenings.
• Operate ophthalmic imaging taking intraocular color photographs and using optical coherence tomography (OCT) images.
• Assist with ophthalmic clinic laser/surgical procedures.
• Coordinate, manage, train and supervise day-to-day activities of the ophthalmic clinic technicians.
• Manage property and inventory for the ophthalmology clinic.
• Maintain civilian time and attendance of the ophthalmology clinic technicians.
• Coordinate maintenance of existing equipment and facilitating purchase of new equipment.
• Perform formal visual field testing.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. INSERVICE APPLICANTS (current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service)
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) measuring a patient's vision, eye pressure, eye muscle function, muscle movement, and pupil reactions; 2) assisting during eye procedures and surgery; and 3) recording a patient's color and scope of vision. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Two full years of graduate level education or a master's degree in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as optometry or ophthalmology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
