Duties

Help
  • Performs duties as personnel, program, and resource manager for projects and systems within multiple duty sections such as Configuration Mgmt., Change Mgmt., Cable Plant Infrastructure, Logistics, Hardware Maint., and Personal Communications Support.
  • Responsible for development and oversight of enterprise wide governance of policy, software, hardware, and physical infrastructure supporting the Command’s consolidated classified and unclassified networks.
  • Serves as the primary mobile communications and Military Construction (MILCON) stakeholder for the directorate attending and chairing meetings, conferences, and ad hoc working groups.
  • Collaborates with counterparts in industry and other military and federal agencies with the goal of providing improvements to current services and facility infrastructure or the development, testing, and fielding of new technologies.
  • Manages, plans, develops, acquires, and implements significant telecommunications systems, projects, and tasks as the Staff Project Action Officer.
  • Provides technical and administrative supervision through subordinate supervisors to a large and multifaceted branch comprised of more than 60 civilian, military, and contractor personnel.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information SCI access for the duration of employment.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • May be subjected to short notice recall. Must reside within 50-mile radius of duty location.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level I certification by completing one of the commercial certifications as outlined in DoD 8570.01 within 12 months of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a 1-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining the governance of policy, software, hardware, and physical infrastructure of classified and unclassified networks; evaluating networked systems determining the integration and implementation of information systems and services performance; managing communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrate knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology; and performing supervisory duties such as planning and assigning work assignments, developing policies, evaluating work of subordinates, and counseling employees.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
