Summary

Identify operating deficiencies, recommend corrective actions required to improve performance, and provide technical assistance to customers upon request.
Serve as the technical expert for infrastructure support systems; power, grounding, bonding, shielding (lightning protection, earth electrode systems, fault protection systems); environmental (HVAC/CRAC).
Prepare associated reports to document findings, conclusions, and recommendations resulting from these activities.
Write training plans, develop qualification tests and progress instruments to gauge subject matter knowledge.
Interpret and analyze publications such as agency regulations, technical specifications, manufacturer's literature, and policy statements.
Exercise professional judgment and creativity in deviating from traditional methods and adapt or develop new methods as required.

This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
Basic Requirements:
Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled.
Other Education: Communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that included advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-for-month basis.
OR
Specialized Experience in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology.
Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Managing digital and analog communications networks, with concentration on, testing and evaluating, the installation of data network equipment, such as facility power systems (generators, batteries, rectifiers, UPS), Grounding systems (earth electrode, Lightning protections, fault protection) and environmental control systems (HVAC/CRAC); experience leading evaluation/inspection teams, resolving performance issues, providing guidance and training, and developing data support policies and procedures to ensure continuity and quality of service.
