THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION.

Indefinite appointment cannot exceed 5 years.


Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered.

The primary purpose of the FLIGHT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, GS-2102-8, is to conduct preflight briefings for pilots and provide in-flight advisory services.

May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position.

AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment.
AREA II= Current California National Guard members.

Military Grades: E-4 through E-7

Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest.

Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance.
Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards.
Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required.

Qualifications

General Experience: Possess experience, education, or training interpreting, explaining, and/or applying basic rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of a transportation program; Experience using computer and automation systems.

FLIGHT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, GS-2102-8: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level, in: arranging and interpreting directives and regulations governing transportation of personnel, cargo, or freight; experience applying directives and regulations governing transportation of personnel, cargo, or freight; experience verifying legal entitlements or official authorizations for travel, securing from carriers guides and timetables, information regarding schedules, fares, and availability of space accommodations; experience planning and organizing the work of others.
