Duties

Help

Tour of duty for this position is: 9:30 am – 5:30 pm, Monday night thru Friday.
Work schedule will include mandatory overtime on holidays AND weekends on a regular and recurring basis.

This is an Essential-Employee Position. The employee will be required to report to work during emergencies AND inclement weather situations.

Serves as working supervisor of thirteen (13) or more employees in accomplishing custodial/laborer/forklift operation/baling machine operation/recycling or special events work.

Ensures that all workers comply with safety and health practices, OSHA regulations, and wear required protective equipment.
Develops performance requirements for subordinates and ensures a mutual understanding of the performance standards.   

Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates. Assigns duties to, and evaluates their performance.
Resolves complaints and grievances as delegated by higher level supervisors.

Manages employees leave and manages the organizational unit’s budget and workload. Provides for employee skills enrichment through job related coaching, mentoring and training.

 Laborer (Recycler), Cleaning, and General Functions:  

Performs laborer work, including loading and unloading trucks, and using various moving equipment and devices including fork lifts, hand and power lifts, and pallet jacks, and carts for construction debris.

Directs work that requires heavy physical effort, including lifting and carrying boxes and sacks of paper, newsprint materials, computer paper, plastic, glass, metal, and other recyclable materials weighing 80 to 100 pounds.

Separates trash by category of recyclable materials and cleans interior and exterior areas assigned. Washes and restores, window blinds, ceiling fixtures, walls, and changes light bulbs, as needed.

Ensures that restrooms are supplied with towels and toilet paper; that ashtrays and trash containers are emptied, and that windows and mirrors are washed.

Removes and performs furniture or equipment relocation and set-up for special events. Arranges chairs and tables in required configurations for special events and ceremonies.  

Delivers materials such as water pitchers, glasses, computer paper, tables, chairs, and personal property, as required by Members of congress and their staffs. Assist with restoration of area after activity.

 Performs other related duties as assigned.
