Duties

Help
  • Develops, manages, maintains, plans and administers outdoor recreation activities programs to support eligible personnel. May provide programming support to therapeutic recreation activities.
  • Schedules and publicizes outdoor recreation activities, ensuring maximum effectiveness in attracting and motivating participants and in proving the widest possible range of activities in terms of community interests and needs.
  • Identifies facilities, personnel, and supplies required to support each program and develops and executes program budget.
  • Recommends new programs that are cost effective and ensures that program emphasis is on those activities most appropriate to the interests of the population served. Provides a full range of supervisory functions to assigned staff.
  • Coordinates with installation, county, and state officials on programs and information related to recreation programs. Researches, plans and develops or modifies outdoor recreation areas. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Specialized experience at a level that equipped the applicant with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required for successful performance.
  • Experience in planning and delivery of outdoor recreation programs to a large, diverse community.
  • Experience in developing or assisting with program budget, providing recreation facility/ equipment maintenance, and instructing program participants in the techniques of various recreation activities.
  • Leadership experience gained through supervising or mentoring lower-level staff.

Best Qualified
  • 3 Years specialized experience supervising an Outdoor Recreation program or similar operations AND
  • 1 Year specialized experience in the field of Hospitality/customer service management AND
  • 1 Year specialized experience developing and executing APF and NAF budgets for a Garrison, or similar experience in the private sector.
OR

Highly Preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Recreation Management or comparable field.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is in the Government's interest. If, paid, will not exceed the JTR for NF-04 position.

Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
