Duties

Help
  • Developing, implementing, integrating, applying, and managing a multi-faceted security program to include physical, personnel, information, industrial, intelligence, COMSEC, Tempest and IT security pertaining to SCI in the organization.
  • Research, evaluate, design, develop, maintain, and manage the security systems, alarms, and measures for protection of the organization's SCI facilities and programs, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements governing same.
  • Prepare detailed plans for installation, expansion, and modernization of existing SCI facilities, and systems to include intrusion detection, systems design, and access control.
  • Directs and controls the planning, development, and implementation and administration of physical security measures in SCIFs.
  • Conduct site inspections for evaluation of security practices and compliance requirements. Provide recommendations to the Commander, for changes necessary to meet requirements detailed in the security program to maintain a sound SCI security posture.
  • Coordinates security requirements for visits to SCI facilities.
  • Ensures that all releases, handlings, markings, safeguarding and storage, and destruction of sensitive but unclassified information, classified information, restricted data, and SCI are in accordance with national security policy.

  • This position has been designated as "Mission Essential." Incumbent will be required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location, within the United States, in times of local/national emergency.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Qualifying Experience:

To qualify at the GG-12 level, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Developing and managing a multi-faceted security program across all security domains pertaining to SCI within the organization.

Education

There is no substitution of education for qualifying experience at the GG-12 grade level.

To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions that are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education .

  • This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.
  • If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.
  • A three-year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. The nature of the position's duties and the organization's operational mission requires the incumbent to physically report to their duty station in certain situations where non-essential employees are excused, such as during national emergencies, extreme weather situations, mission critical systems outages, and/or other scenarios as deemed appropriate at the highest levels of the organization's chain of command.
  • In accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Manual 3305.13-M, "DoD Security Accreditation and Certification," the position encumbered has been identified as a Defense Security Position (DSP). Individuals occupying positions designated as DSPs are required to meet certification requirements of the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program. The incumbent of this position is required to obtain and maintain Tier 1, Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC). Individuals who occupy a DSP and do not have the appropriate SPeD certification will have two years after the first duty day in occupying the DSP to obtain the required certification.
  • Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination
