Duties

Help

1. Planning: Serves as section supervisor, exercising supervisory responsibility over assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations. Supervises employees involved in the maintenance, repair, and modification of integrated multi-complex avionics systems. Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities and materials. Establishes deadlines and priorities and work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors. Determines the sequence, priority, and time for the performance of operations within the limits of broad work schedules and time limits. Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors. Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects. Redirects individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work. Informs higher level supervisors of the need to revise work schedules and re-estimate labor and other resources. Participates with superiors in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.

2. Work Direction: Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes; implements corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems.

3. Administration: Supports and explains management programs to subordinates. Plans and establishes overall leave schedule. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment. Sets performance standards and makes formal appraisals of subordinates work performance. Advises and counsels workers on how to improve their performance and explains new work techniques. Initiates recommendations for promotion or reassignment of subordinates. Reviews job descriptions for accuracy and makes necessary changes. Investigates and resolves grievances and complaints; notifies supervisor of serious matters. Initiates proposals for formal disciplinary action as needed. Interviews candidates for vacancies and recommends selections. Ensures safety and housekeeping practices are observed. Carries out management objectives including labor-management relations, Equal Employment Opportunity, internal controls, safety, energy conservation, environmental controls, and property accountability. Maintains work reports and records.

4. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.

5. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Performs additional duties such as accident/mishap response, various shift supervision, special project management, heavy equipment operations, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or to serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies, as required.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months of specialized working experiences in performing, training and/or supervising assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations. Must have working and training experiences in the maintenance, repair, and modification
of integrated multi-complex avionics systems. Skilled in planning tasks for subordinate workers and expanded knowledge in using the equipment, facilities and materials. Skilled in meeting deadlines, in using time management to satisfy priorities and work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors. Experiences included redirecting individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work. Skilled in articulating work requirements to higher level supervisors and experienced in planning current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommending projected work. Competent in researching and addressing work related problems such as, excessive costs or low productivity; and, determining the relevant causes. Experiences included implementing corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems. Must have the skill and knowledge to plan work and manage leave schedules. Capabilities included the ability to determine the types and levels of training needs, along with providing mentorship and guidance to subordinates for their professional skill and knowledge improvements. Experienced in writing performance standards and provided subordinates with formal appraisals of their work performance. Experiences involved advising and counseling workers on how to improve their performance through explanations and demonstrations of work techniques. Work efforts included initiating recommendations for promotion or reassignment of subordinates to senior supervisors. Competent in reviewing job descriptions for accuracy and clarity. Knowledgeable in the correct methods used to investigate, analyze, and resolve grievances and complaints. Experiences involved providing recommendations for disciplinary actions. Skilled in applying interview techniques and understanding of body language patterns. Experiences included interviewing candidates for vacancies and recommending selections to higher level supervisors. Skilled in conducting environmental safety requirements and identifying equipment handling concerns that resulted in observed safety and housekeeping practices. Experiences included compliance with wearing the appropriate safety equipment and following pertinent safety precautions. Skilled and knowledgeable of management objectives and programs, that included addressing labor-management relations, Equal Employment Opportunity, internal controls, safety, energy conservation, environmental controls, and property accountability. Skilled in writing and presenting work reports and maintaining accurate records. Experienced in participating in readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Experiences may have included work that involved accident/mishap responses, shift supervision, special project management, heavy equipment operations, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or served as a team member that responded to natural disasters or civil emergencies.

Education

For the WS-13 ANG Dual Status Technician position, the mandatory military education requirement is the award of a compatible Seven Skill Level AFSC, along with the successful completion of at least two military professional education course programs.
