Duties

Help

Must be 21 years of age or older to serve alcohol. Operates limited service bar, prepares alcoholic drinks by premix, serves beer, soda and wine. Processes payments, makes change for patrons and waiters. Maintains clean work area, and ensures area if fully stocked. Sets up bar for operation and obtains cash bank. Washes bar equipment, glassware, and utensils. Stocks service bars and assists higher-level bartender as required. May be required to prepare documentation for cash funds accountability. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to serve alcohol.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Requires frequent light to moderate lifting and carrying objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds and occasionally lifting up to and over 40 pounds.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler’s Certificate and/or complete food handler’s training.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale, which includes knowledge of correct proportions and mixtures to use in preparing beverages. Must be able to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed. Must be able to follow cash handling procedures. Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement of 21 years old for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages.

Education

This position does not allow for education substitution.
