Help
  • Ensures that the J6 organization's strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services.
  • Articulates and communicates to the team the task, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
  • Leads the team in: identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and/or occupational specialization.
  • Performs feasibility studies, which involve application of emerging computer technology to resolve unique user requirements/ monitors innovations/strategic directions in logistics and database technology.
  • Elicits and reviews customer requirements and other information assembled about the nature of the work, the work flow, the processing actions, and the work product(s) in the functional / application area targeted for change.
  • Analyzes alternatives and proposes design for advanced systems software, to include defining complex programming specifications.
  • Provides technical expertise in configuration of data base software on various platforms.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Lead IT Specialist (DATAMGT/INFOSEC) your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

- Tests and installs new versions of data base software (i.e. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server), application software, and other software related to Data Base Management System (DBMS) administration.
- Determines the physical storage requirements based on the volume of data, data relationships, size of records, anticipated growth, access methods, and data compression techniques.
- Evaluates the comparison of alternatives in terms of cost, time, equipment and staff and recommends a course of action. Installs, tests and operates hardware and software used in prototype and evaluates results.
- Performs feasibility studies, which involve application of emerging computer technology to resolve unique user requirements. Monitors innovations/strategic directions in logistics and database technology.

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed:

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.

Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Refusal to undergo testing or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and a six-month denial of employment with DLA from the date of the drug test. The DLA drug testing panel tests for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, phencyclidine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, fentanyl, norfentanyl, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), and opioids.

ADVISORY: Use of cannabidiol (CBD) products may result in a positive drug test for marijuana. DLA employees are subject to Federal law and under Federal law, Marijuana is a Schedule I drug and is illegal.
