About the position: This position will be assigned to the Nellis Inn on Nellis AFB, NV.

Regular Part Time employees are guaranteed 20 hours per week, but may work up to 34 Hours per week.

Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and carry objects weighing over 50 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, stood, and reach for long periods of time.

Duties

Help

Distributes and balances workload among employees. Observes work in progress, production, adherence to quality and safety standards. Instructs and trains new employees. Elevates unresolved employee complaints or operational issues to supervisor. Provides input on performance, progress, and disciplinary problems. Reports all repair and maintenance requirements according to established policy. Reports all safety violations to immediate supervisor. Updates computer database with room status, occupancy, check-outs and reports on housekeeping area. Ensures adequate stock of cleaning materials and equipment required to do the work. Assists custodial worker in selecting and using cleaning agents safely and cost effectively and instructs them in planning sequence of work.

Performs custodial worker duties as time permits or as assigned by supervisor. Cleans guest rooms, storerooms, corridors, stairways, facilities and other areas. Scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using heavy (industrial-type) powered scrubbers and buffers. Washes walls, using powered wall washing machine. Vacuum cleans rugs, using heavy (industrial-type) vacuum cleaners. Adjusts, cleans, and oils these machines, and changes brushers, rollers, buffers, and other attachments on them. Washes and replaces venetian blinds and washers ceiling fixtures and room partitions, using ladders and scaffolds. Moves heavy furniture, supplies and equipment. Collects soiled linen and replaces with clean linen.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
The ability to lead 3 or more custodial workers to accomplish housekeeping assignments. Must have functional experience and demonstrated knowledge of facility/equipment in housekeeping and the ability to build teams and work with others. Must have experience and knowledge of housekeeping principles and practices. Must have experience in the proper use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions. Must be able to clean and make adjustments to powered cleaning equipment. Must be able to perform the full range of cleaning duties. Must be able to plan, coordinate and time sequence steps needed to meet time constraints of work assignments. Experience and knowledge must been gain either in a military lodging program or commercial hotel/motel. Must be able to follow oral or written instructions and speak English.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

  • Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately. preceding the start of Federal Affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.
