Duties

  • You will serve as the System/Network Administrator for Operational Technology (OT) support and as a member of a CIO organizational unit dedicated to OT support.
  • You will be responsible for administering the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
  • You will install new or modified hardware and operating systems and applications software.
  • You will provide advice and recommendations on IT/OT system administration.
  • You will manage systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, integrity, efficiency and recoverability.
  • You will implement system security procedures, tools and policy, to include firewalls, host and client access, file permissions, and user accounts.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code Systems Administration 451, Administration 441, proficiency level intermediate.
  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This is a Defense Acquisition Workforce position that requires an Engineering and Technical Management, Foundational acquisition certification.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Ensures and manages systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, integrity, efficiency and recoverability.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Administering the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Recommends resolution to problems and issues, prepares and presents reports and plans, and coordinates projects to meet future needs.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Resolves hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.

In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) Ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of systems administration services AND;2) Demonstrating skill in the operation of a wide range of computer hardware, COTS, and applications software, particularly PC and LAN-based systems and ability to install/troubleshoot hardware and software components AND; 3) Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs. Souda Bay is a location that is a without the Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) support normally associated with an overseas assignment. The participating International schools located on the Island of Crete are not conducive for High School Students preparing for College and most high school students attend boarding school.
