Duties

Help
  • Performs a variety of trades and craft duties involving maintenance, repair and improvement of facilities. Duties require the use of trade practices associated with carpentry, painting, and laboring work. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • 1. Assists in the maintenance and repair of building interiors. Patches and paints walls, replaces faucet washers, light bulbs and fuses. Un-stops sinks and toilet bowls. Hangs electrical fixtures and repairs screens and storm sashes.
  • 2. Assists in the maintenance and repair of building exteriors. Prepares surfaces for painting by applying sealing compounds and primers. Finishes rough edges, smoothing them with file, emery cloth and sandpaper.
  • 3. Assists in the maintenance and repair of the grounds. Cuts grass, plants, trims hedges, trees and shrubbery. Dumps trash, waters plants and sweeps walkways and may be required to shovel snow.
  • 4. May be required to operate up to 1 Ton motor vehicle to/from worksite to transport material and personnel. If required to operate a motor vehicle, prepares trip tickets, performs daily maintenance/reports any major repairs needed to supervisor.

Qualifications

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
