Duties

Help

This position is located with the 162d Wing located in Tucson, Arizona. The primary purpose of the position is to troubleshoot, repair, install, modify, test and adjust aircraft ordnance systems, equipment and components. On and/or off-equipment inspection, modification, overhaul, troubleshooting and repair capability of weapons release and gun systems; verifies and analyzes malfunctions, troubleshoots, tests, inspects and loads/unloads conventional munitions; installs/removes weapons delivery equipment, launchers and gun systems.

  • ARIZONA AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard, in a military position assigned to 162d WG.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver’s license.
  • This position is subject to rotating or night shift work.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E1/AB - E6/TSgt

Compatible Military Assignments: AFSC 2W1X1

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 24 months experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair, and installation of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedies where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and the use of a variety of measuring and test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's specifications.

Education

You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics):

1. Knowledge and appropriate training in functions of inspection, maintenance, installation, modification and repair of air munitions launch, release, suspension systems, R/F electronic countermeasures system and aircraft gun systems.

2. Knowledge and skill in troubleshooting procedures, diagnosing problems and determining corrective action in the aircraft ordnance electronic systems.

3. Skill in operating assigned computer systems to document job data and to operate and run test equipment.

4. Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principals.

5. Knowledge of the Technical Orders and other technical publications and directives relating to work requirements.
