Duties

Help
  • You will requisition, track, receive and oversee inventory control/accountability of Arms Ammunition and Explosives received from and issued to commercial and contracted carriers.
  • You will be the subject matter expert in the use of the Ordnance Information System (OIS) and ensure that OIS records accurately reflect quantities, location, stock number, and condition codes of ordnance and demolition materiel assets on hand.
  • You will maintain a 45-day minimum inventory of ordnance/demolition materiel, to include pending ordnance requisitions.
  • You will operate various makes and models of forklift trucks capable of lifting loads weighing less than 10,000 pounds
  • You will maintain ordnance accounting databases (e.g., Ordnance Information System [OIS] database or similar) to ensure accountability of all ammunition.
  • You will perform daily equipment pre-operation checks and report any discrepancies discovered prior to or during operation to supervisor
  • You will drive trucks that have a GVW of less than 32,000 pounds, on public roads at highway speeds operates trucks to transport ammunition and explosive materiel to and from designated locations both on and off base.
  • You will determine the manner and sequence of loading cargo to achieve load balance and adequate protection for fragile items; ensures that cargo is properly distributed, secured, and protected from the weather.
  • You will assist in organizing and preparing ammunition and explosives for shipment on/off base.
  • You will perform armed guard surveillance using 12-gauge shotgun and/or 9mm pistol when transporting munitions.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Managing inventory control and accountability of Ammunition and Explosives using the Ordnance Information System (OIS) to ensure accurate records; 2) Directing and conducting physical counts of ordnance to verify stock levels and address discrepancies; 3) Operating forklifts to safely load, unload, and move ordnance over various surfaces and confined spaces; 4) Inspecting inbound and outbound shipments for hazardous material compliance, proper packaging, and vehicle condition; and 5) Escorting ammunition transport and performing armed guard duties to maintain security during movement and storage.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR
