Duties

Help
  • You will use hand and power tools in the repair, installation, assembly, and disassembly of electronic measurement equipment.
  • You will improvise the use of precision measurement equipment and application of trade techniques to solve unusual problems.
  • You will interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams when performing electronic measurement equipment repairs.
  • You will disassemble instruments or components to inspect for worn or damaged parts.
  • You will use mathematics and circuit theory to determine voltage, signal resistance, and malfunctions of electronic measurement equipment.
  • You will simulate operating conditions on malfunctioning electronic measurement equipment components of systems to find specific causes of discrepancies or malfunctions.
  • You will select the test equipment to be used in the electronic measurement equipment calibration process.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position requires to posses and maintain current certification to perform various types of soldering work.
  • This position requires the ability to distinguish colors and shades of colors to distinguish color codes.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Additional information

This position requires sitting position for extended period of time. Some work requires long periods of standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Light to moderate physical effort is required. Employee frequently lifts and carries up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds). May occasionally be required to lift and move items weighing in excess of 23 kilograms (50 pounds) with the help of 5 weight handling equipment and/or the assistance of other employees.

Work is usually performed in well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Employee may be subject to injuries, such as electrical shock, cuts, bruises and burns. Work entails use of cleaning solvents and lubricants that may expose employee to unpleasant fumes.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
