Summary

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below:

Basic Requirements:
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

OR

Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.

Customer Service- experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of
customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs.

Oral Communication-briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience.

Problem Solving- identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solution.

AND

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level (GG-13) in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as:

  1. Resolving IT problems within the scope of a global desktop operation;
  2. Leading service desk end user device technicians;
  3. Serving as a technical resource and/or Subject Matter Expert (SME) in developing and managing customer performance requirements, policies, and procedures.

Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-14 grade level.

  • This position is subject to completion of 1 year probationary period for assignment to a supervisory position.

  • This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 which will be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the Manual.
  • This position has been designated as "Mission Essential." Incumbent will be required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location, within the United States, in times of local/national emergency. The nature of the position's duties and the organization's operational mission requires the incumbent to physically report to their duty station in certain situations where non-essential employees are excused, such as during national emergencies, extreme weather situations, mission critical systems outages, and/or other scenarios as deemed appropriate at the highest levels of the organization's chain of command. As part of the Mission Essential designation, the incumbent maybe placed in a 24/7 standby or recall status and be required to carry a mobile phone or other similar device to be directly recalled to duty from a recall roster. The incumbent may also be required to physically report to an alternate duty station during
    the activation of a Continuity of Operations (COOP) Plan.
  • Due to the continuous and essential nature of the organization's mission, the incumbent is subject to recall or callback during off shift hours on7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, if required by upper management. Employee may be subject to varying work shifts and work shift rotations for mission support requirements if required by upper management.
