Duties

You will serve as a IT Cybersecurity Specialist (PLCYPLN-INFOSEC), GS-2210-13 and be responsible for project management in the Mobile & Cellular Branch (MCB). This will include managing various projects for mobile services and enhancing enterprise mobility services.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Act as a primary stakeholder in the underlying information technology (IT) operational processes and functions that support the mobility service, provide direction and monitor all significant activities so the mobility services is delivered successfully.
  • Coordinating and managing the overall mobility service provided to a customer end-to-end.
  • Providing recommendations for possible improvements and upgrades to enhance mobility operations.
  • Providing direction and monitoring all significant activities so the mobility service is delivered successfully.

Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.

A. Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level I (FAC P/PM-I) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position.

B. Information Assurance Management Level II (IAM-II) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal or private sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Specialized experience must include the following:

  • Managing IT mobility equipment inventory including procurement, configuration, and lifecycle management; and
  • Leading cross functional projects to enhance the mobile device management system and processes; and
  • Enhancing cellular operations by coordinating with vendors, stakeholders and technical teams; and
  • Providing oversight and direction as project manager related to mobile services, ensuring proper project management and new and existing mobility technology is implemented timely.


In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement, you must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Student Loan - Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year. More than one loan may be repaid if the combined repayments do not exceed $10,000. Receipt of this incentive will require a three-year service agreement.
