Duties

Help
  • You will monitor services and expenditures to ensure proper availability of funds.
  • You will perform work monitoring to ensure facilities assignments are being completed in a timely manner.
  • You will ensure that MAXIMO reflects an accurate inventory for assigned buildings.
  • You will screen, classify, and submit requests for various types of shop work, as well as contracted work.
  • You will conduct and attend meetings and visits to identify any facility problems that have developed, facilitate work execution, and advise on supported command projects.
  • You will serve as the primary point of contact between the Public Works Officer and the specific commands and tenants under his/her cognizance, ensuring their facilities are professionally maintained to meet mission requirements.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screens, classifies, and submits requests for shop and contracted work; 2) Developing requirements and projects for maintenance actions plans, and prioritizes projects for shop and contract execution; 3) Providing updates to Supported Command and NAVFAC on all facility issues and work efforts for assigned facilities; 4) Applying technical principles, directives, and methods of facility management to maintain facilities and facility assets in good working order; 5) Applying financial regulations to determine the correct type of funding for facility and equipment issues; and 6) Identifying, prioritizing, and initiating projects to be placed on Maintenance Action Plans (MAPs) and Maintenance Execution Plans (MEPs) for assigned facilities and programs. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported in your resume.

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in applying technical principles, directives, and methods of facility management to maintain facilities and facility assets in good working order; 2) Assisting in applying financial regulations to determine the correct type of funding for facility and equipment issues; 3) Forecasting usage rates using facility and facility equipment principles and techniques; 4) Recommending proper prioritization of facility and equipment requirements and initiation of new projects within the context of the command. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The majority of work will be performed under field conditions requiring frequent field surveys ascending ladders to rooftops, trusses, and other semi-precarious positions with exposure to moving equipment, electrical currents, or toxic fumes. The work is physical in nature requiring sitting standing, walking, bending, stooping, carrying light to medium object (under 50 lbs.), going beneath buildings or on rooftops, climbing ladders, entering manholes, and anything else required to determine and/or evaluate site conditions and scopes of work. Must be capable of traversing hills, swales, and rough terrain.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in various surrounding including offices, waterfront areas, airfields, industrial and residential facilities or construction and utility visits. Visits to certain locations may cause exposure to the normal hazards associated with construction work and industrial operations including confined spaces. Work involves the pressure of time and budget constraints.

Education

I have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

I have successfully completed 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

I have successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position that is being filled

or

I have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
