Duties

Help

This position is assigned to the Karing Kennels activities. Performs administrative duties related to the operation of the activity. Receives customers and provides information such as boarding procedures, grooming services, quarantine requirements, pet adoption procedures, animal turn-in requirements and procedures, lost and found program, retail merchandise, and other related topics. Collects fees and operates a cash register/POS. Ensures safeguarding of assets and prepares cashier reports. Completes boarding agreements to include verifying all required information, such as proper
identification, shot requirements, dates, required medication, emergency contact information, and other related topics. Completes animal turn-in forms to include reviewing animal records determining the appropriate fee and pertinent historical information to include health, disposition, and bite hold reports on file if any. Assists maintaining and updating household accounts, shot records, microchip records, grooming appointments, and all types of waiting lists. Completes monthly resale inventory. Informs management of depleted forms. Follows emergency procedures when incidents occur.
Performs other related duties. Position of Trust.
Note: This position is distinct from the animal caretaker positions in that handling of and caring for animals is not a primary function of the position. There may be limited contact with animals during pick-ups and drop-offs or other infrequent contacts, but the incumbents are specifically prohibited from regular and recurring handling of and caring for animals.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have customer service experience with assisting customers. Cash handling experience with accepting different forms of payments is required. Operating a cash register and a point of sales systems is highly desired. Must be able to work variable work schedule. Skill in the use of a computer is required. Experience working with animals or knowledge of basic dog and feline animal care is desirable. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
