Help
  • Leads on a regular and recurring basis, at least 50% of the time, leading and mentoring three or more permanent and temporary employees to achieve materials handling operations.
  • Provides training in operation of mechanized equipment, utility vehicles, forklifts, automated equipment, inventory, and/or requisition data in automated warehouses.
  • Provides instruction on and/or performs a variety of duties including handling, delivering, and warehousing materials including hazardous, flammable, and temperature sensitive products.
  • Plans, organizes, schedules, and directs the activities necessary to accomplish the packaging, shipping, and receiving of supplies and equipment needed to support regional and national incidents as well as other national cache support operations.
  • Coordinates maintenance, inspection, and record keeping for a fleet of vehicles such as semi-trailers, two-axle semi-trucks, cargo vans, ¾ ton pick-up trucks, and various emergency rental agreement vehicles.
  • Ensures needed plans, material, and tools are available, including obtaining needed stock from supply locations.
  • Revises setup of stock areas or shift storage locations in consideration of factors such as space available, turnover, and convenience of handling items.
  • Uses automated material identification equipment such as bar code wands, computer terminals, and laser scanners.
  • Performs work according to instructions, time schedules, safety requirements, and standards of the occupation.

  • Must be a certified forklift operator in accordance with OSHA standards and be able to pass an operator's test, read traffic signs, and complete trip tickets, within one year of initial employment.
  • Required to attain and maintain HAZMAT handling and transportation certification in accordance with 49 CFR regulations, within one year of initial employment.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing. while performing duties associated with their field of work.

Work Schedule: The work may require long hours on short notice, callback in evenings or on weekends, work shifts of 12 hours for extended periods, holiday shifts, and/or receiving telephone calls after regular hours. The employee may be subject to fire or detail assignments in logistic support roles.

This position is not eligible for telework.
