Duties

Help
  • Recommend performance ratings, disciplinary actions, and/or new hires.
  • Perform the full range of duties identical to those of subordinate employees such as operating heavy powered cleaning equipment and/or maintaining restrooms
  • Provide updates to supervisor on status and progress of work.
  • Provide technical directions and/or help in accomplishing difficult work.
  • Adjust and/or performs minor maintenance to attachments on power equipment.
  • Determine the number of employees, equipment, materials, and supplies needed at worksites.
  • Serve as campus point of contact.
  • Provide the completed Quality Control checklists to the Project Manager during the monthly meetings.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Custodial Worker Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Providing guidance on cleaning safety and/or housekeeping rules; distributing work to others; and providing work status updates. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
  • Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)
  • Ability To Lead or Supervise
  • Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Dexterity and Safety
  • Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean and in order)
  • Physical Effort: Occasionally uses heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., industrial type buffers). Occasionally exerts moderately heavy physical effort such as that required in lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds, requiring continuous standing, bending, stooping and reaching. Requires working on ladders/scaffold in the performance of some duties. Weight handling equipment is available.
  • Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas which are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritation from strong cleaning solutions. Care must be taken to avoid serious injury when working on ladders and scaffolds or when using heavy powered equipment. Safety equipment is available.

All candidates must reside within the local commuting area where the position is located. Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community.
