Duties

Help
  • Utilize Automated systems to schedule patient appointment and/ routine physical exams.
  • Maintain medical records in accordance with applicable directives.
  • Verify information's and order all indicated laboratory studies, x-rays, immunizations, and other ancillary tests as appropriate.
  • Review medical and/or occupational history.
  • Perform various screenings, such as vision, vital signs, spirometry, audiometry, and electrocardiograms (EKGs).
  • Perform various medical screening tests, patient assessment and triage, and health education.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Required possess or able to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to onboarding.
  • Incumbent may be required to wear Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Required to have successfully completed audiometry by a Council of Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) and received a certificate of completion within 6 months.
  • Required to have successfully completed a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approved course in Spirometry and received a certificate of completion within 6 months.
  • Required to receive and maintain appropriate vaccination against seasonal influenza. The incumbent must, as a condition of employment, be immunized on an annual basis against influenza.
  • This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience GS-05: One year of specialized experience which includes providing customer service, maintaining files, and using automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR

Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes performing screenings, scheduling appointments, and completing statistical reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR

Education:
A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as such asa Healthcare Technician or Medical Technician program, and other related health science fields. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes counseling patients regarding test results, conducting occupational health assessments, interpreting vital signs, and utilizing automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

OR

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such asa Healthcare Technician or Medical Technician program, and other related health science fields. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Certification Requirements: At the GS-05 grade-level, Spirometry and Audiology certification MUST be obtained within 6 months of employment. At the GS-06 and GS-07 grade-level applicants MUST possess the certifications of Spirometry and Audiology.

  • Management may select at any of the grade levels announced.
  • If selection is made at the GS-05 grade level - the incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the target grade GS-06 upon meeting all regulatory requirements; certification by the supervisor of successful performance; completion of all training requirements; and the availability of work at the next higher grade level. NOTE: Promotion is not automatic.
  • If selection is made at the GS-06 grade level - the incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the target grade GS-07 upon meeting all regulatory requirements; certification by the supervisor of successful performance; completion of all training requirements; and the availability of work at the next higher grade level.
