Duties

Help

The purpose is to serve as the Aircraft Maintenance Manager with the assigned responsibility for directing and managing Squadron Personnel, Equipment, and overall readiness of all assigned resources.

  • Directs unit's overall efforts to ensure readiness of assigned aircraft, personnel, and equipment to meet wartime, day-to-day mission requirements, and any State Active Duty to support State Emergencies.
  • Determines goals and objectives for the squadron.
  • Evaluates subordinate supervisors and reviews evaluations made by subordinate supervisors.
  • Collaborates with the Group Commander/Squadron Commander and other base organizations to plan, develop and implement numerous long term plans.
  • Coordinates with appropriate groups in the wing to ensure an integrated approach to action solutions of problems relating to fleet health, availability of aircraft, and the ability to conduct the military mission.
  • Maintains surveillance and ensures effective operation of the maintenance program.

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the ND National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the ND National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the ND National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposition is mandatory.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Irregular and/or compensatory hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Position does not require the piloting or pilot instructing of military aircraft.

Qualifications

PCS STATEMENT: PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION COSTS WILL NOT BE PAID FOR THIS POSITION.

MILITARY GRADES: Open to Officers with max grade of Lt Col (O-5)
COMPATIBILE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: 21A

AFSC is not a disqualifying factor of eligibility, however, selected applicant must obtain the compatible AFSC.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE
Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have the experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of equipment maintenance work, or skill in reading engineering drawings and specifications, using test instruments, making computations, and keeping records. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have 1-year specialized experience to at least the next lower grade or civilian equivalent experience which includes: 1. experience in applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment, facility, or service operations sufficient in planning assignments, 2. Experience using well­ established occupational methods and techniques to determine facility, grounds, equipment overhauI, maintenance, restoration, repair needs, etc., 3.Experience in determination of resource needs, allocation of resources, and budgeting/funding needs, 4. Experience in human resources management policy matters affecting the entire organization, with personnel actions affecting key employees, and 5. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed, including leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
