THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION

The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12, is to act as the crew chief with responsibility for directing the total maintenance effort on individually assigned aircraft.

May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position.

Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance.
Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards.
Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives.

Qualifications

General Experience: Possess experience or training that has provided the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications; Skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-12: Must have at least 18 months experience performing duties as a dedicated crew chief; responsible for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers; Experience coordinating the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft; Experience serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft.
