Duties

Help
  • Operate a point-of-sale cash register to record meal prices and categories of personnel that are authorized to purchase meals in the hospital or dining hall.
  • Post price changes to menu boards, enter meal prices into the register system and accept cash payments for prescribed rates.
  • Receive and verify change fund and check the register daily.
  • Under the presence of the Cook Supervisor, at the end of meals, count cash received.
  • Verify the correct amount of cash and transactions and turn over to the Cook Supervisor.
  • Assist the Accounting Technician with transferring daily meal figures.
  • Compute the number of meals served at the end of meal service.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires rotating shift work, between the hours of 5:00 am and 10:00 pm, to include split days off, and work on evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Work schedules include: 0545-1415; 1030-1930
  • Position is designated as Mission Essential. Incumbent will be required to ensure continuity of Tripler Army Medical Center’s operations during ALL hazard's emergency situations
  • One year probationary period may be required.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. General Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least 6 months of General experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. General experience is defined as: experience that includes progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the Sales Store Checker position such as operating an electronic cash register.

OR

Education: One year of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts).

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 6. Then divide your semester hours of education by 30. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-02).
