About the position: This position will be assigned to the Travis Marina in Sausalito, CA.

Duties

Help

  • Uses and maintains tools and equipment. Utilizes hand and power tools such as, drills, power saws, routers, standard hand tools, straight edge, chalk line, tapes, rules, caulking irons, pipe wrenches, roller, putty knives, and paint brushes.
  • Installs or repairs items such as, docks, doors, and boats in the Marina. Replaces or repairs windows, window screens, doors, door locks and other mechanical items.
  • Makes minor electrical repairs to light switches where use of common hand tools may be used after specific instructions by a supervisor and safety precaution outlined.
  • Performs carpentry work by measuring, cutting, construction or repairing docks, decks, handrails, flooring by using power tools including table saws, drills, bench saws, sanders, and small hand tools.
  • Prepares wood and metal surfaces to be painted, mixes, and prepares coating material, and applies coating materials (for example, paints, varnishes, and shellacs). Prepares surfaces by scraping, wire brushing, masking, spackling, and sand surfacing.
  • Performs plumbing duties which may include replacing, faucet knobs, unplugs commodes or sinks.
  • Makes minor adjustments or repairs to vacuum cleaners and other small appliances.
  • Reports major problems to supervisor for contract repair or replacement.

Qualifying Experience:
Experience which has demonstrated skill in installing and repairing docks, doors, boats, and wall mounted furniture in the Marina. Experience performing repair and maintenance work on a variety of small equipment. Requires knowledge and experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting trades. Requires knowledge and skill in the use of job related hand tools and machines. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
