Duties

Help
  • Serves as the principal advisor for DLA Energy’s Commander and staff for Physical Security, Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP), Emergency Management, and Security Education and Awareness.
  • Develops and manages Security Service programs for DLA Energy's worldwide activities involving safeguarding information, personnel, property, assets, and material from theft, loss, misuse, fraud, disclosure, espionage, and sabotage.
  • Develops and prepares annual budget programming for anticipated expenditures, providing recommendations for requests for emergency funding of security and antiterrorism measures.
  • Conducts security visits to support DLA Energy subordinate organizations and provide training to supported activities.
  • Provides physical security reviews, antiterrorism vulnerability assessments, and site improvement projects; coordinating with appropriate Federal and DoD Agencies and Military Services.
  • Serves as the Emergency Management (EM) Program Liaison; assists in the development of EM plans at DLA Energy permitted sites.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Evaluating and providing recommendations pertaining to Physical Security, Antiterrorism/Force Protection, and Emergency Management programs.
  • Developing and implementing operational policies, procedures, programs, and standards as required to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of security programs.
  • Delivering security briefings and training to staff on new security policies and updates to existing practices.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Security Professional Education Development (SP­ēD) Program Positions (SFPC): This position requires a Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) conferral within two years of the established employee entry on duty or initial assignment date to this position IAW DoDM 3305.13 and DLAI 3305.15, "Security Professional Education Development (SPēD) Program".

Drug-Free Workplace:The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has established a Drug-Free Federal Workplace Policy.
