Duties

Help

As an AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER, WG-4818-10, you will:

  • Inspects, tests, certifies, repairs, assembles and maintains ALSE to include aircraft/aircrew electronic communications equipment, and aircraft-oxygen related items, aircraft modular survival system, life preservers, helicopter emergency egress devices, first aid kits and microclimate cooling vests.
  • Instructs crewmembers in all categories of ALSE. Instructs aircrew and other personnel such as aircraft maintenance personnel, aircrew and non-aircrew members of other services and agencies in the care, use, theory of operation and capabilities of ALSE used in a variety of global environments.
  • Certifies initial and continuation training of aircrew and other personnel.
  • Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations.
  • Supervises, instructs, trains and certifies traditional Guard members on all facets of the aircrew life support career field; performs task evaluations and documents OJT records.
  • Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
  • Prepares Annual Budget analysis and projections for ALSE shop operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Employment Requirements:

Title 32 Dual-Status Positions:

Military Grade:

Min: PFC/E3 and Max: SFC/E7

Areas of Consideration:

CAT 3 : All current members of the New Jersey National Guard

Certification: Must complete Aircraft Survival Flight Equipment Repairer Course within 1 year of appointment

Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments

Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position.

*Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1)

Qualifications

General Experience:
Must have the following experiences:

  • Using Materials and equipment (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment)
  • Understanding written instructions
  • Using reference materials and manuals
Specialized Experience:
Must have 18 months of the following experiences:
  • Aviation life support equipment
  • Reading and interpreting military manuals
  • Supply procedures and property accountability
  • Collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups
  • Planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential

Education

Certification:
Must complete Aircraft Survival Flight Equipment Repairer Course within 1 year of appointment
