As a Housekeeping Aid, you will perform a full range of light and heavy cleaning duties and routine housekeeping duties. Veterans rely on the skills of these professionals to keep patient areas clean and safe by addressing spills quickly, discarding trash, installing light bulbs in halls and rooms, and vacuuming and polishing floors.
Duties include cleaning wards, patient rooms, storerooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, shower rooms, and other areas. Housekeeping Aids sweep, mop, scrub (machine) floors, vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture, empty waste baskets, clean light globes and Venetian blinds, wash walls, windows and ceilings by climbing small ladders, refill toilet tissue and towel dispensers and move furniture. Housekeeping Aids carry out assignments with minimal supervision.
Work Schedule: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm Position Description Title/PD#: Environmental Services (EVS) Technician - Critical Skills Incentive Authorized/PD014570 and PD05166A Critical Skills Incentive (CSI): Approved (20% of base salary) Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to do continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, and pushing; lifting and moving heavy objects such as heavy duty cleaning equipment nd other objects; and climbing ladders and scaffolds. The duties require considerable dexterity, hand, foot and eye coordination, and concentration.
"This occupation is currently approved for a Veterans Health Administration enterprise-wide Critical Skills Incentive (CSI). Candidates may be eligible for a lump sum CSI. The amount of lump sum CSI is determined based on appointment date and may be pro-rated as determined by the end date of the CSI. Eligible candidates will be required to sign a service agreement agreeing to an obligated service period and failure to complete the obligated service period may result in a debt for the unearned portion of the CSI."
