Summary

This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administrator (DEA), Cybersecurity Support Staff, TCVM.

This position(s) primary purpose is to provide effective implementation of the Risk Management Framework, which ensures that managing information system-related risks is consistent with the risk tolerance established by DEA senior leadership through the Risk Executive (function) as defined in NIST SP 800-39.

As an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (PLCYPLN), GS-2210-12/13 your typical work assignments may include:

  • Establishing and overseeing the risk management framework implementation for DEA systems. Develops local risk assessment policies. Preparing risk assessments for DEA information systems using automated assessment tools.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for internal and external audit organizations and providing audit support, assistance, and coordination as necessary.
  • Developing and performing assessments and audit, reviews and evaluations of enterprise information systems and information systems security controls.
  • Serving as a technical authority and focal point for information security policies and procedures, including hardware, software (both applications and systems) and access provision security.
  • Performing Cybersecurity Awareness and Professional Training coordination, completion tracking, and reporting. C

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the basic requirement AND specialized experience requirements as noted below. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

The Information Technology Series, 2210, has an Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR), which must be met in addition to the specialized experience.

For all IT positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

One year of experience (equivalent to at least the GS-11 level or pay band in the Federal service) that includes performing the following duties: 1) Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments in accordance with the Risk Management Framework. 2) Providing cybersecurity audit support.

One year of experience (equivalent to at least the GS-12 level or pay band in the Federal service) that includes performing the following duties: 1) Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments in accordance with the Risk Management Framework. 2) Providing cybersecurity audit support. 3) Conducting reviews and assessments on information system security controls.

Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
