The duties and responsibilities of the Dental Assistant includes, but not limited to:
Shows courtesy, respect, and a positive attitude for patients, co-workers, and the public.
Sets up operatory and/or surgery suite for planned dental procedure and cleans dental unit for timely turnover.
Provides chair side assistance, fully anticipating dentist's needs for various instruments, materials and services.
Keeps operative field clear of debris and retracts oral tissues effectively and comfortably.
Prepare dental medicaments and impression material per manufacturer's instructions.
Perform Oral Hygiene counseling per clinical standards set by service.
Assists in routine and specialized dental procedures , such as oral surgery, endodontics, surgical periodontics, prosthodontics, and implantology.
Instruments are properly prepared for sterilization by SPD standards.
Assists patients in scheduling appointments.
Assists dentist in charting findings and treatment plans in patient records.
Maintain a current BLS certification.
Remove sutures and removal of periodontal surgical dressing.
Remove sutures from post surgical procedures, temporary crown/bridge and clean tooth preparation of debris.
Recement and fabricate temporary crowns.
Coronal polishing of teeth. Applies topical anesthetics.
Applies desensitizing agents.
Place and remove retraction cord prior to impressions.
Place rubber dams and matrix bands.
Provides post-operative and either appropriate patient education.
Preferred Experience and/or Education: Certified Dental Assistant, (CDA), (CFRDA), (CPFDA), (EFDA) and Military Experience. Minimum of (3) Full Time years of Chair Side experience.
Work Schedule:7:30am - 4:00pm, 6:30am - 3:00pm Monday- Friday(schedule will be dependent on clinic needs)
