Help

The Program Support Assistant provides administrative support to the Suicide Prevention Coordinator, Community Engagement Partnership Coordinator, Case Managers, and backup support to the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine and staff.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring service level functions are completed accurately to include reoccurring reports, assuring providers complete required documentation, timekeeping in VATAS, work orders, maintaining accurate clinic grids accounting for scheduled leave, Mental Health Treatment Coordinator assignments, reissuing PIV cards and Suicide Prevention outreach activities.
  • Monitoring the cancellation and no show reports.
  • Tracking inpatient and outpatient consults.
  • Updating and maintaining policies, standard operating procedures, and charters.
  • Drafts annual performance appraisals and assists in maintaining Credentialing and Privileging folders.
  • Maintains professionalism and courtesy with all patients, staff members, and visitors.
  • Monitor and maintain confidentiality, privacy, and security at all times and does not disclose any matter related to confidentiality, privacy, and security inappropriately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monda-Friday

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/13/2022.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of management to arrange conference/meetings appropriately, prepare reports of proceedings; Knowledge of filing systems, office operations, references and manuals; Knowledge of computer programs and advanced functions of a variety of types of office automation software such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, and graphic programs (Microsoft office); Knowledge of time and leave policies and procedures. OR,
  • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial and technical school.   • Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education. (Transcripts Required)

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: The incumbent spends a considerable amount of time sitting at computer terminals in performance of regular duties. Work is basically sedentary in nature, but also involves some walking, standing, bending, and carrying items such as books, papers, etc.
