Summary

This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation at JBSA Randolph AFB.

This is a flexible category position with no guaranteed hours, may work up to 40 hrs./wk. Scheduled as needed. Employees appointed to a flexible category position are not eligible for benefits.

Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing 10 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance. Continuous standing, walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pulling and bending.

Duties

Help

The purpose of this position is to provide customer service and to assist in the day-to-day operation of the Community Services Mall. Performs a variety of duties and responsibilities in support of the day-to-day operation of Outdoor Recreation programs and the car wash. This includes equipment loan and rental, RV Storage lots, U-Store-Its, Base Park, POV Resale Lot, Swimming Pools, Archery Range, and Car Wash. Checks customer eligibility. Operates Point of Sale (POS) system whether cash register or RecTrac, collects fees when appropriate for Outdoor Recreation programs and completes appropriate documentation. Informs management of any irregularities. Processes facility, equipment and program reservations. Signs up customers for classes, lessons, trips and programs. Assists with Outdoor Recreation trips and programs. Demonstrates safety and proper use of equipment when checking it out to customers; provides instructions and safety guidance. Responsible for receiving returned equipment, ensuring it is clean and working and placing it in the proper storage area. Completes walk around checklists for required items such as trailers, party machines, etc., before and after rental. Takes care of RV storage area and makes sure all payment paperwork is processed properly. Keeps facilities in clean and organized fashion. Responsible for some minor equipment maintenance such as changing oil and filters, changing tires and lights, repairing holes in tents and general upkeep of equipment. Assists with simple repairs, lawn maintenance, grounds keeping, operating small gas equipment such as lawnmowers, and weed eaters. Works with computer programs in order to complete daily paperwork and process payments and reservations. Sells retail items. Performs opening and closing procedures of facilities IAW written guidelines. Secures area at end of shift. Assists in conducting special and base wide programs such as Customer Appreciation and R4R programs. Works indoors and outdoors in varying extreme temperatures that match current season. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug test screening, and random drug testing thereafter, to include screening based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Qualifying Experience:
Practical experience of recreational activities, equipment, rules and procedures which involves recreational work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned. Experience in the cash handling. Basic experience in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Experience of recreational activities, equipment, rules and procedures which involves recreational work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned.
2. Experience in the cash handling.
3. Basic experience in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities.
