Duties

Help
  • Provides expert advice and consultation to fire and field office managers on fire business management activities.
  • Advises management on a variety of opportunities to increase organizational effectiveness and provides suggestions for their implementation.
  • Assists with planning, coordinating and developing budget proposals.
  • Develops or modifies appropriate business management training material for positions within the Incident Command administrative organization.
  • Develops and conducts training for fire business management support positions which are not in the Incident Command red-card system.
  • Analyzes administrative systems, workflows, and reporting requirements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of local program operations.
  • Conducts detailed analyses and advises on the organization, methods, and procedures for providing administrative support pertaining to matters such as records, communications, directives, forms, files, and documentation.
  • Reviews audit and investigative reports, when necessary, to determine appropriate changes or corrective action required.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement(s); please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled.

You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Evaluating and preparing reports for managers and supervisors in compliance with financial records management, performing incident cost comparisons, and providing resolution to incident related business management issues. -OR- master's or equivalent graduate degree directly related to wildland firefighting. -OR- two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such as degree directly related to wildland firefighting. -OR- LL.B. or J.D., directly related to wildland firefighting. -OR- combination of directly related Education and Experience.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: No unusual physical exertion is required.

Work Environment: Work is performed in a typical office setting.
