Help

As an Information Technology Specialist (Network) you are responsible for managing and resolving major incidents that arises to ensure systems and services that are impacted by the incident are restored as quickly as possible to minimize the impact to mission critical application.

This position starts at a salary of $120,579.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $156,755.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

Major duties of this position include:

  • Analyzing and responding to major unplanned network service interruptions/incident from customers, internal IT and other Network Operations events in order to maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the network, systems and applications.
  • Coordinating the gathering and reviewing of network utilization statistics and performance measures to ensure network stability, quality and maximum performance while maintaining system security and integrity.
  • Leading and supporting special projects and additional tasks to include formal and informal briefings, operational support and other assignment as requested and required.
  • Preparing and presenting executive summaries to senior management officials on major incidents and initiatives.
  • Representing the office in interactions with other government components/agencies or private contractors.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

You qualify for this position if you meet the basic requirement listed above and possess one year of specialized experience as described below.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
  • Planning, designing, developing, and integrating new technologies into new or existing networks.
  • Evaluating technologies to ensure they comply with the security requirements related to the system Authority to Operate.
  • Managing multiple concurrent tasks and projects by planning, organizing and prioritizing tasks.
  • Planning, implementing, and managing problem management systems to effectively resolve problems and to make recommendations for remediation of incidents or operational improvements.
