About the Position: This position is located in Winn Army Community Hospital, Fort Stewart, GA. Incumbent is responsible for patrolling the premises, crime prevention, personnel security, and monitoring personnel access for the hospital campus and outlying clinics and buildings.

Duties

Help
  • Utilize identification cards, badges, biometrics, automated records, vehicle decals and/or verbal questioning to verify visitor identification.
  • Question suspicious persons and detain those suspected of criminal and/or illegal activity.
  • Apply non-lethal force during escalated situations as necessary.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has the following medical requirements; good near and distant vision, ability to distinguish basic colors, and ability to hear the conversational voice.
  • This position is under the Federal Motor Operations medical requirement specified in 5 Code of Federal Regulations Section 930 Part 109; persons operating a Government owned or leased vehicle are subject to medical testing once every 4 years.
  • This position may require a character investigation to secure incumbent’s honesty, integrity, general character, and loyalty to the U.S. Government.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to undergo and pass an annual medical exam of physical, emotional, and mental stability.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
  • This position requires the incumbent not have any criminal convictions and possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Criminal convictions, and/or loss of license may result in removal from the position.
  • Position requires the incumbent to qualify annually and be proficient in handling firearms, scanner, metal detector, and oleoresin capsicum (OC) pepper spray/foam.
  • This position requires incumbent to complete a pre-employment physical, physical agility, and psychological examinations and annual thereafter to ensure the required level of physical health and ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires incumbent to be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and must know first aid.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training. Incumbent is required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual Physical Agility Test (PAT).
  • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza and hepatitis vaccination requirement and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation must be provided upon hire).
  • The incumbent is required to maintain a high standard of conduct; and will be assessed under the Individual Reliability Program to show they can work effectively under pressure or emergency conditions with a positive attitude toward his/her duties.
  • This position may require incumbent to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment and a uniform. Incumbent must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includesutilizing manual and electronic methods for monitoring personnel access into restricted areas; providing protective service work in guarding and protecting property; and performing motorized and foot patrol security checks in order to detect potential problem situations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Individual Occupational Requirement: Experience such as work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. For Security Guard positions in a hospital setting, experience as a psychiatric nursing assistant or a similar position safeguarding patients is qualifying.

Education

Additional information

  • This position has been designated Weather Essential. In the event of inclement weather conditions, the incumbent is required to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be receive and remain up to date on the Hepatitis B vaccination.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series. This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • You must undergo a specific initial background checks, investigation and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records to obtain and maintain a suitable determination to occupy a position having regular contact with children.
  • Subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.
  • Required to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires incumbent to maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
