Duties

Help

As a Senior Policy Analyst (Supply Reduction), GS-0301-15, your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Provides expert drug policy advice, recommendations, and representations to the Staff Director and Assistant Director, OCDIR; the Deputy Director, ONDCP, and the Director, ONDCP.
  • Develops and oversees measure and tracking systems to monitor international and domestic law enforcement drug control measures for assigned areas and makes recommendations based on information derived.
  • Analyzes pending and proposed legislation, agency regulations, Congressional testimony, budget allocations, budget reprograming, program announcements, and Federal publications to ensure consistency with NDCS.
  • Reviews critical research, evaluation, and statistical activities of Federal and non-government groups to identify information relevant to pending policy issues and suggests improvements necessary to shape informed drug policy strategy and decisions pertaining to the specific area of responsibility.
  • Ensures and actively participates in the oversight of relevant public policy discussions and analyses and monitors the development and implementation of relevant drug control activities and programs.
  • Develops and oversees measure and tracking systems to monitor international and domestic law enforcement drug control measures for assigned areas and makes recommendations based on information derived.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standards.

ALL QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE MET BY THE CLOSING DATE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band in Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector.

You may qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet the following minimum qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level or comparable pay band that includes: Conducting detailed and broad-in-scope analyses of drug control programs and policies and overseeing their implementation; actively participating in or overseeing relevant public policy discussions and analyses; Analyzing major policy issues with national scope that pertain to drug policy while highlighting alternative approaches that may resolve problems; Coordinating with other organizations to assess and implement effective drug control policies.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
