Duties

Help
  • You will perform account maintenance and accounting support work.
  • You will examination of documents for accuracy, adequacy of documentation, compliance with regulations for goods and services provided to or by the Government.
  • You will determine pay, payroll records maintenance and completion of reports pertaining to civilian employees of the Federal Government.
  • You will answer requests and provide advice to employees, supervisors, staff in other financial management series and personnel specialists on pay related rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • You will verify cash items, the acceptability of required supporting documents, and cash processing procedures of Federal agencies and commercial institutions.
  • You will work with accounting systems and standard accounting codes.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

GS-05: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience in the areas of financial account maintenance; accounts receivable; and accounts payable items.

GS-06: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: technical work in support of the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit and custody of cash items which includes handling cash items or use of cash accountability control methods.

Education

GS-5:

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:Have successfully completed four years of education above high school level.

OR

Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent
