Duties

Help
  • Operate large, complex riding lawn mower (e.g., multiple and independently controlled cutting decks) and/or specially designed riding mowers to mow in areas requiring attention to space and environment.
  • Equipment characteristics include single function performance and components that are independently controlled through various hydraulic and/or mechanical devises.
  • Performs tasks requiring significant manual skill, very heavy physical effort, and detailed procedures (preparing ground for sod, flowers and shrubs) following drawings, specifications while utilizing a knowledge of project requirements.
  • Cut cups for hole locations. Clean up trash and debris.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to work during the hours of operation which includes weekends, nights, and holidays, as well as support for special events and programs.
  • Works indoors and outdoors. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions when working outdoors.
  • Exposed to drafts, noise, dust, and dirt. Possibility of bruises, muscle strains, cuts and scrapes.
  • Required to follow safety procedures and use standard safety equipment such as gloves, ear protectors, and safety glasses and exercise proper handling of equipment to avoid serious injury in the work area.
  • Requires frequent lifting and moving of equipment weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Very heavy physical effort is required in operating large, riding mowers on grades and in areas with bushes, trees, and other visible obstacles that require significant maneuvering and level control.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR215-3, 2-13i to include a National Agency Check (NACI).

Qualification Requirements are:

  • Demonstrated work experience that includes the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position as indicated above.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.

Highly Qualified candidates will have the following:
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Previous experience working with a turf grass team.
  • Previous work experience working on golf courses.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
