The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) Acquisition Delta Cybersecurity Branch (SZI) at Kirtland Air Force Base is searching for an Information Systems Security Developer (GS-12).
Description:
Member will serve as a Delta ISSD for the planning, execution, and reporting of Information Assurance and Cyber Security disciplines for the space ground and launch systems throughout the Innovation & Prototyping delta. Main goal is to ensure the appropriate application of information assurance and cyber security policies and procedures to protect Space Systems Command programs. Will function as a subject matter expert for application associated policies for both research and development as well as operational systems under development by SZI and their customer base systems, and facilities and cyber security policies and procedures to protect SSC/SZI programs, systems, and facilities. Ensure software, hardware, and firmware complies with appropriate security configuration guidelines.
Ideal candidate must be 8570, IAM II compliant. Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Degrees in cybersecurity or Information Assurance (will accept a bachelor's in information systems security, Computer Science with Cybersecurity Concentration, or a master's degree in Cybersecurity or Cybersecurity Management) are desired. Candidate must possess a Sec+/CASP+ or equivalent certification. Candidate must have knowledge/background of the following:
- Risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk); cybersecurity principles, concepts, practices, systems software, database software, and immediate access storage technology to carry out activities leading to security certification or accreditation.
- IT security principles, concepts, practices, products and services, and methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability, implementing mitigating improvement, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures for Space Ground and Vehicle systems.
- Local Area Network security requirements and techniques for protecting computer systems and cloud computing deployment models in private, public, and hybrid environments (on & off premises environments)
- Space operational and acquisition activities including space system, satellite command and control systems, launch systems and associate mission process, systems, and applications
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk); cybersecurity principles, concepts, practices, systems software, database software, and immediate access storage technology to carry out activities leading to security certification or accreditation.
2. Knowledge of IT security principles, policies, products and services using the Risk Management Framework to assess risk factors and advise on vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources (e.g. destructive programs/applications/viruses, unauthorized access, disruption of services, espionage) and procedures and methods for protection of systems and applications.
3. Knowledge of IT security principles, concepts, practices, products and services, and methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability, implementing mitigating improvement, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures for Space Ground and Vehicle systems.
4. Knowledge of Local Area Network security requirements and techniques for protecting computer systems from viruses, data tampering, and unauthorized system entry.
5. Knowledge of cloud computing deployment models in private, public, and hybrid environments and the difference between on-premises and off-premises environments.
6. Knowledge of ensuring audit records are collected and reviewed weekly in accordance with ICS 500-27, Collection and Sharing of Audit Data.
7. Knowledge of space operational and acquisition activities including space system, satellite command and control systems, launch systems and associate mission process, systems, and applications.
8. Knowledge of IT management information systems and applications software technology to isolate causes of problems between hardware, system, and applications software programs and to measure system performance and/or extend operating system capabilities to support organizational business processes and operations.
9. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
10. Knowledge of NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-171, FedRAMP, COMSEC
