Duties

Help

Prepares a wide variety of hot beverages such as cappuccinos, brewed coffee, lattes, expresso, hot chocolate, etc. by selecting proper ingredients. Serves cold beverages and food items, such as soda, juice cookies, muffins, pastries, etc. Receives payment, operates cash register, makes and returns change to patrons. Sets up work area for operations and obtains cash bank. Maintains work area neat and clean. Sets up/cleans tables for customers and replenish condiment items as necessary. Sets up and operates dishwashers, performs preventive maintenance and cleaning. Scrapes, soaks, scours glassware, dishes and utensils as required. Also performs heavy duty cleaning tasks as required such as; coffee machines, ceilings, under and behind equipment, refrigerators, washes floors and walls, sanitizes garbage cans. May unload stock from delivery trucks. Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area. Must be able to follow basic cappuccino requirement of each type of drink including but not limited to, preheating the porta filter, knowing the difference in grinds of coffee, knowing how long should a shot take to brew into a cup, preheating the cup, how to "pull" and "tamp" into then porta filter, differences in frothing and steaming milk, and able to now difference and relay information to customers on the difference in drink choices. Assists with inventories, identifies items for re-ordering. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Continuous standing, walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. . May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment. May be required to prepare documentation for cash funds accountability. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must be able to follow simple written and oral instructions. Must be able to use cooking tools and operate simple kitchen appliances or machines, i.e. coffee, toaster, etc. Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and using judgment in sequencing tasks. Must have experience handling cash, credit card and/or check payment. Must pass a food handlers test. Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty (evenings, weekends, and holidays). Must be able to read, speak, and understand English clearly. Must be able to follow recipe cards, and measure correct proportions and mixes as directed. Must have customer service experience.

Education
