Duties of this position include but are not limited to the following: The Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN), functioning in the Community Living Center (CLC), demonstrates the ability to carry out assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions; to use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments; and to accurately recognize, report, and record relevant patient information. The incumbent is an integral member of the CLC interdisciplinary care team, with span of services including acute rehabilitation, skilled care, hospice and palliative care, respite and long-term care. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, he/she is self-directed in delivering individualized care to adult and elderly patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN). The incumbent performs a variety of routine and complex patient care procedures based on the work assignment and the needs of the nursing unit to which assigned.

GS-05: Completion of at least one year of qualifying experience at the GS-4 level or equivalent and fully meeting all performance requirements for the GS-4 AND,
Completed work is under the general supervision of an RN or MD/DO. Individuals at this grade level are expected to have a broad working knowledge of practical nursing procedures. However, completion of more complex practices or procedures may be subject to closer higher-level review.GS-06: Completion of at least one year of qualifying experience at the GS-5 level or equivalent and fully meeting all performance requirements for the GS-5 LPN/LVN AND:
The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-6.The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of GS-3 to GS-6.

Physical Requirements: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. Mechanical inpatient lifts are provided. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations, operative/invasive procedures, or home settings. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. If applicable, the incumbent may be required to complete screening or testing through Employee Health. The incumbent who provides care in home settings or other off-site locations may be required to drive and/or ride in GSA-vehicles.
Intermittent Appointment: Intermittent employment is defined as a non-fulltime employment in which employees serve under an excepted or competitive service appointment without a regularly scheduled tour of duty. A position with an intermittent work schedule is sporadic and unpredictable so that a tour of duty cannot be regularly scheduled in advance.
