This position is duty stationed in Flagstaff, AZ and serves as the GS11 District Ranger/Supervisor, over Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki National Monuments. and reports directly to the Chief Ranger. This position will be the primary contact and work directly with the Chief Ranger and Superintendent to achieve Monument goals. This position will directly supervise up to three GS/GL09 Rangers as well as any seasonal and volunteer staff within VRP division. This position is a non-required occupant, home to work vehicle may be authorized if incumbent resides within 20-minute response time.
In addition to supervisory duties, the incumbent is required to maintain a National Park Service Type 1 (Full Authority) law enforcement commission. As such, the incumbent and his/her staff are responsible for performing a full range of law enforcement duties as federal officers including detection, investigation, apprehension, detention and prosecution under provisions of applicable laws, rules, regulation enacted to insure the protection and safe use of park resources. The primary duty of this position is to manage and conduct enforcement of the criminal laws of the United States through investigation, apprehension, education, and detention of individuals suspected or convicted of violating these laws. Appropriate enforcement to protect park natural, cultural, historical and human resources constitutes the basic reason for the existence of this position, occupies a substantial portion of the incumbent's working time, and is assigned on a regular and recurring basis
