The Community Engagement and Partnerships Coordinator (CEPC) is a member of a diverse, multi-professional team. The CEPC works independently and has extensive experience developing and leading groups, partnerships, or coalitions addressing suicide prevention. Coalitions are defined as groups of people, representing diverse organizations or factions within a community, who have come together to work toward common goals. Suicide Prevention Coordinators (SPC) are critical in supporting Veterans and traditionally have focused on implementing local outreach strategies and evidence-based clinical interventions for suicide prevention, both within the VA and in the community. Community Engagement and Partnerships Coordinators (CEPCs) expand upon this community outreach work by focusing on community engagement. The position requires up to 50% travel time.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Developing, facilitating, and strengthening CBI-SP at the community and state levels aimed at reducing Veteran Suicide through coalition facilitation.
- Participating in and supporting the dissemination of the Together With Veterans (TWV) Rural Suicide Prevention Program and Governors/Mayor's Challenges as appropriate.
- Supporting other existing coalitions who have missions aligned with VA's CBI-SP.
- Connecting with VA programs and stakeholders, including but not limited to, Veterans, Veteran Service Organization, congressional staff, media, community business partners, and community members throughout Fargo VA Healthcare system and VISN 23 catchment areas to provide education on suicide prevention related topics and services.
- Regularly consulting and collaborating with multiple entities, including clinical and administrative leaders, as well as other authoritative resources at the Medical Center, such as Public Affairs, Regional Counsel, Quality Management, Business Office, and Education.
- Serving as a subject-matter expert in supporting coalitions by proving new or existing education and outreach initiatives on behalf of the Fargo VA and the surrounding catchment area.
- Developing and maintaining content expertise in community SP while promoting and utilizing evidence-based guidelines at all stages of program development and implementation.
- Developing materials and delivers training programs, in coordination with internal and external stakeholders regarding community suicide prevention throughout the catchment area.
- Utilizing multimedia campaign materials to educate and engage target audiences.
- Disseminating relevant research findings through practice, education, and consultation.
- Collaborating closely with members of local suicide prevention teams to provide much needed expansion of the teams' capacity to develop and enhance community partnerships for suicide prevention through establishing coalition-based suicide prevention programs in local communities.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
