Incumbent is involved with a variety of duties in support of the Community Recreation program which includes Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) special events, MWR information/resources, command events, visiting ships or fleet support, community events, trips, tours, outings, party and picnic rental equipment, resale tickets, leisure skill classes, outdoor recreation or other similar MWR recreational services.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Applicants have to be US citizens who are authorized command-sponsored dependents of civilian or military personnel stationed with official Government Orders at US NAS Sigonella, Italy. 1st CUT-OFF DATE: 05 JUNE 2025

Duties

Help

Performs assigned duties and provides necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information and support of Community Recreation programs. Provides information concerning facilities and operation. Ensures adherence to regulations, and safety and security procedures.

Assists in maintaining routine reports and performs clerical, custodial and/or general maintenance duties as needed. Operates a cash register, Point of Sale (POS) system, processes product or service transactions including equipment loan, rentals, resale, and program registration; receives payments and makes change.

Provides customer service by greeting patrons in person and by answering the telephone; takes messages and handles customer requests or referrals to the appropriate staff member. All of the abovementioned tasks relate to Community Recreation program delivery, e.g. inventory control, equipment inspection, restocking, point of sale system operation, and cash handling.

Provides support for Community Recreation event set up and break down.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Must satisfactorily complete a background investigation.
  • Work schedule is subject to change and may include working mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and rotating shifts.
  • Will be required to obtain Emergency First Responder or CPR/First Aid/AED certification, Customer Service Training and Alcohol Safety Certification, within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Position may involve long periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending and lifting up to 40 pounds and occasionally heavier items.
  • Position may require working outside for special events or outdoor outings.
  • Male candidates born after December 31, 1959, and at least 18 years of age, are required to certify that they have registered with the Selective Service System (Attach proof of registration).
  • Eligible civilian candidates must possess: No-Fee Passport, Italian mission visa, Sponsor's Orders or Command-sponsorship authorization, and sojourner's permit/application letter.

Qualifications

Three (3) months of general experience or high school diploma/GED.

General experience: any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position.

Qualified candidates will also be rated and ranked by the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's) to determine order of referral:

  • Basic reading comprehension
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Basic computer operations and keyboarding skills
  • Basic arithmetic calculations
  • Basic customer service delivery methods

Education

If you wish to use education as a substitution for experience, attach a copy of high school diploma or other acceptable evidence when applying in order to receive credit.
