The Lead MSA works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model. The Lead MSA coordinates with the patient care team to review the clinic utilization by using various reports(e.g., Clinic Utilization Statistical Summary), ensure that the clinic setup is closely monitored to effectively support the needs of the clinic, and make any necessary adjustments.

The Lead MSA routinely interacts with MSA staff and collaborates with other members of an expanded health care team to assist in providing a robust interdisciplinary approach to care. The Lead MSA monitors daily work assignments and balances workload among MSA staff. The Lead MSA provides input on performance regarding quality of work, accuracy and timeliness of scheduling appointments, and compliance with National Radiology Scheduling Directives and Medical Center Policies.
Lead Medical Support Assistant duties consist of but are not limited to the following:

Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
