Duties

Help

As a Recreation Assistant, performs a variety of technical and administrative work in the operation of the Performing Arts Center. The Recreation Assistant (Performing Arts) will be responsible for providing dance instruction to children, choreographing recital pieces, and serving as lead choreographer for Performing Arts School theatrical productions.

Duties are performed under general supervision and may include:

  • Assisting with costuming, make-up, clerical and administrative functions necessary for the operation of the center, to include record keeping, inventory of supplies, and recommending ordering of depleted or other necessary supplies.
  • Performing first level maintenance on all equipment to ensure that it is in operable condition.
  • Identifying inoperable equipment and advising the supervisor of those needing higher level repair.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A probation period of one year may be required.
  • Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Successfully complete a health screening. Immunizations required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.

Qualifications

Three (3) months of prior experience participating in variety shows, bands and plays.
Experience to include:

  • Construction of sets and scenery.
  • Working with recitals, theatrical performance, workshops or revues.
Highly Preferred
  • Experience with teaching and instructing dance to children from ages 6-18, to include special needs children.
  • Experience with choreography for workshops, revues, recitals, and theatrical performances.

Pay-Band Allowances and Differentials
  • When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).   • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) will not be paid.
  • Post Allowance will not be paid.
