The incumbent reports to the PCT Program Manager, or designee. The PCT is an outpatient clinic that primarily provides evidence-based PTSD therapy for veterans with PTSD across the lifespan. We are a cohesive team of therapists with a shared passion for trauma recovery, seeking an additional team member to join our innovative and growing PCT. Our team collaborates to foster a safe and culturally sensitive trauma informed approach to support veterans of diverse populations impacted by complex trauma.
This position is a full-time clinical role delivering weekly high quality, evidence-based, time-limited PTSD treatment to veterans in the PCT, both virtually and in person. There may be opportunities to be involved in our Accelerated Outpatient (massed treatment) track as well. Other duties may include diagnostic interviews, assessments, consultation, and group psychotherapy. Shared decision-making and measurement-based care are also an integral part of the services we provide.
Social Work Job Duties Within MHCL include:
Performs specialized treatment of complex physical or mental illnesses. Incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of Veterans including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice.
Incumbent provides advanced level case management interventions used in the treatment of Veterans with polytrauma injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, visual impairment, post-traumatic stress disorder, addictions, and other serious disorders.
Have experience and certification in evidence-based practice or the skills and abilities to learn advanced evidence-based practices including, but not limited to the following: Cognitive behavior therapy; Cognitive processing therapy; Prolonged exposure therapy; Psychodynamic therapy; Family therapy; Group therapy; Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Offers consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients treated in specialty areas, rendering professional opinions based on experience and expertise and role-modeling effective social work practice skills.
Monitors the efficiency, effectiveness, timeliness, and quality of the services offered within the program area. The incumbent reviews/assesses the data and develops/implements ideas for improvement.
Recognized as a leader in the delivery of social work services to most complex care needs. The incumbent will serve as a social work champion for discharge planning and psychosocial needs. Ensures that social work practice is evidence-based and in keeping with recognized social work treatment methods. Provides consultation, technical assistance, and mentoring to groups of employees performing work at various GS levels, particularly those at the entry level. The incumbent is viewed as the senior clinician with advanced practice skills and expertise.
Evaluates his/her practice as a senior social worker through an on-going basis by participation in professional peer practice, self study,
or other organized means. Active in and accepts responsibility for the development and maintenance of professional standards of treatment/practice.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Alternate tours will be considered.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
