Duties

Help
  • Performs a variety of tasks having several steps or a sequence of tasks that requires attention to work operations in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures
  • Sets up cafeteria lines, steam-tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter, and beverages; replenishes as necessary.
  • Operates, break downs, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation
  • Serves food by order and proper proportion.
  • Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware.

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.

  • This position requires a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation.
  • Must be willing to accept intermittent, on-call employment.
  • Must be physically able to lift and move items weighing up to 40 pounds; subject to continuous standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending; work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment.
  • Management reserves the right to reassign employees to other facilities.
  • The incumbent will be required to work Monday-Thursday and off every other Friday (RDO).
  • Ability to complete food sanitation and safety training within the first thirty (30) days of employment and on an annual basis thereafter.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • ability to understand and follow simple instructions, AND
  • ability to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines, AND
  • ability to perform tasks involving several procedures and concentrate on work assignments despite interruptions and distractions, AND
  • knowledge of basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures, AND
  • knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals, such as counting the number of tables in order to determine the number of portions or meals required, or how many servings a particular container will yield.

  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.

  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will NOT be paid.
